LAS VEGAS: Tragic Accident Claims the Life of Nevada Man in Mesquite Roundabout

In a devastating incident, a Nevada man lost his life after being struck by a pickup truck while walking through a roundabout in Mesquite, as reported by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol.

The unfortunate incident occurred on the evening of November 15, at approximately 5:10 p.m., when the Nevada State Police received an emergency call regarding a collision at the roundabout intersection of Oasis Boulevard and Ivy Lee Crest in Mesquite.

According to the Nevada State Police, a GMC Canyon pickup truck was heading northbound on Oasis Boulevard, nearing the roundabout, when a pedestrian suddenly entered the lane in the direction of the approaching vehicle, despite being outside the designated crosswalk area.

Tragically, the GMC collided with the pedestrian, resulting in severe injuries. The Nevada State Police confirmed the pedestrian as 69-year-old Gordon Dwyer, a resident of Mesquite. Following the incident, emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene and transported Dwyer to a local hospital. However, despite their best efforts, Dwyer was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital.

This heart-wrenching incident marks the 66th fatal crash reported by the NSP Southern Command in 2023, a year that has seen a distressing total of 80 lives lost due to such incidents. The authorities are urging pedestrians and drivers alike to exercise utmost caution and adhere to traffic rules and designated crossing areas to ensure the safety of all road users.
