Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), Pranav Tayal, divulged that the Mandir Marg police station received an urgent call from the police control room on November 26, reporting an accident on Panchkuian Road. Acting promptly, a police team swiftly arrived at the location, only to discover that the injured victims had already been transported to Lady Hardinge hospital for urgent medical attention.

Regrettably, Gupta was pronounced dead by the attending doctors, while Patle’s statement could not be obtained due to his ongoing treatment. Shedding light on the investigation, the DCP revealed that despite the lack of eyewitnesses and the inability of the injured victim to provide a statement, the determined police team did not lose hope. They displayed remarkable resilience and meticulously analyzed footage from over 100 CCTV cameras positioned in the vicinity of the scene of the crime. Their dedication eventually paid off as they successfully identified the vehicle responsible for the tragic incident.

Further progress was made when the police obtained the ownership details of the offending vehicle. Ganga Singh Hanspal, the registered owner, was subsequently located and subjected to intensive interrogation regarding his involvement in the fatal accident. Ultimately, Hanspal confessed to being behind the wheel at the time of the incident. Consequently, he was arrested and later released on bail following the necessary legal procedures, as confirmed by the DCP.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of traffic safety and the need for responsible driving. The authorities commend the tireless efforts of the police team who, despite facing substantial challenges, managed to identify and apprehend the accused. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and the Delhi Police are determined to ensure justice is served..
