Teenage Boy Charged After Gunfire Exchange with CCL Holder in Chicago’s Tri-Taylor Neighborhood

Charges have been filed following a recent incident in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood of Chicago where a teenage boy engaged in gunfire with a concealed carry license (CCL) holder.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, a 27-year-old man was driving through the 1900 block of West Congress Parkway when an individual in a blue vehicle opened fire at him. In an act of self-defense, the victim retaliated by returning fire, resulting in an exchange of gunshots between the two parties.

As a consequence of the altercation, the victim sustained gunshot wounds and was promptly transported to Stroger Hospital, where he is currently in fair condition.

Authorities have identified the shooter as a 14-year-old boy. On Wednesday, law enforcement agents apprehended the teenager in the 1900 block of W. Ogden.

The juvenile is now facing legal consequences, having been charged with one felony count of aggravated battery and discharging a firearm, along with a misdemeanor charge for aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon.
