Jordan Culley, a member of the Cervantes Tiger Sharks football club, was highly regarded within the community. The club expressed their grief over the loss of “one of its brightest young stars.” Culley had been playing for the reserves for the past two years, winning a premiership alongside his older brother Blake in 2022. He also finished runner-up fairest and best this year and ranked third in the association for The Ian Wyatt Medal.

The Club Cervantes, where Culley was scheduled to celebrate his upcoming 18th birthday on December 15, also mourned his untimely death. They described him as an up-and-coming star and a beloved member of the local fishing community. The venue expressed their devastation that Culley’s birthday celebration could not take place, but they promised to raise a glass in his honor.
