Accident – Death – Obituary News : LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has made a significant breakthrough in a murder investigation, as they announced the arrest of a man who is considered a person of interest in the case. Jesse Lou Gregory, a 34-year-old male, is now facing additional charges related to the shooting death of an individual earlier this month.

According to the Sheriff Jay Koon, these charges stem from an investigation into a body discovered on November 12 at the intersection of Old Barnwell Road and White Knoll Way. Gregory was identified as a person of interest in the crime and subsequently arrested on November 13. Investigators allege that he desecrated the human remains by discarding the body of the shooting victim.

The victim, Nicholas Kenneth Hendrix, is believed to have been shot by Gregory using a shotgun. However, the evidence collected from the crime scene and Hendrix’s injuries do not align with Gregory’s account of the incident. Sheriff Koon stated, “Gregory told detectives he shot Hendrix while they were driving around in the Leesville area.” The inconsistencies between Gregory’s statement and the evidence have raised suspicions regarding the true nature of the events leading to Hendrix’s death.

In addition to the murder charge, Gregory is also accused of stealing a car the day before the shooting. This grand larceny offense resulted in an additional charge against him. Gregory was apprehended in Aiken County, where he was found in possession of the stolen vehicle.

Prior to these events, it was discovered that Gregory failed to properly charge a GPS electronic ankle monitoring device, which he was required to wear as a condition of his bond from a previous charge. This failure to comply with the monitoring requirements led to another charge against Gregory, namely, circumventing an electronic monitoring device.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Gregory, charging him with murder, grand larceny, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and circumventing an electronic monitoring device. He is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
