Investigation Launched into Fatal Crash at Marrero Intersection

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has initiated an investigation into a tragic fatal crash that occurred on Wednesday morning at the intersection of Lapalco Boulevard and Barataria Boulevard in Marrero, Louisiana. Authorities were alerted to the incident after receiving a distress call at approximately 10 a.m. reporting a collision.

Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers discovered an unresponsive adult male who had sustained severe injuries as a result of the car crash. Tragically, the man was found lying on the eastbound side of Lapalco Boulevard and was pronounced dead on-site. Additionally, a woman, who was also involved in the accident, was located in the median of Lapalco Boulevard. She had suffered injuries related to the crash and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

A damaged three-wheel motorcycle was found in one of the eastbound lanes, with the woman identified as the motorcycle’s driver. Investigators were able to establish that the motorcycle had been traveling east on Lapalco Boulevard before crossing over Barataria Boulevard. Unfortunately, the driver lost control of the motorcycle at the intersection, ultimately colliding with the male victim.

The collision occurred when the motorcycle struck the front of a white sports utility car that was positioned in the U-turn lane on Lapalco Boulevard. The driver of the sports utility car’s condition remains unknown at this time, and toxicology results are pending. As such, the investigation into this tragic incident is still ongoing.
