Delhi Police Arrests Rohit Kumar, Chef in Croatia, for Online Sexual Harassment and Stalking

Accident – Death – Obituary News : NEW DELHI: In a significant development, the Delhi police have apprehended a 28-year-old man, identified as Rohit Kumar, who works as a chef in Croatia, for his alleged involvement in online sexual harassment and stalking of young women. The accused, originally from Delhi, was arrested on November 23 from East Delhi’s Pandav Nagar. Authorities have also seized his passport.

According to DCP (Shahdara) Rohit Meena, the arrest was made following a complaint from a woman who received explicit and inappropriate messages on her WhatsApp at an odd hour. The messages contained explicit content and requests for intimate images. She promptly reported the incident, prompting the police to take swift action.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Rohit Kumar had been sending obscene messages to random women. Whenever a woman responded to his messages, he would resort to various means to coerce them into engaging in explicit acts over the phone. The officer explained that the accused took advantage of the anonymity of online platforms to harass and pressure women.

It has been revealed that Rohit Kumar has been working as a chef at a restaurant in Croatia since June 2022. He frequently traveled between India and Croatia over the years. Authorities have ascertained that he was planning to permanently relocate his wife to Croatia in approximately five months. DCP Meena stated that the accused had harassed multiple girls, and investigators are currently examining his mobile phone chats to gather additional evidence.

The police have registered a case against Rohit Kumar under relevant sections of Indian law pertaining to stalking and sexual harassment. An investigation is underway to gather more information about his activities and ascertain the extent of his involvement in such incidents. The police have already analyzed the call detail records of the phone number used by the accused. It was determined that at the time of the alleged offense, Rohit was present in India, but subsequently returned to Croatia.

It has been further revealed that Rohit’s wife resides in a house in Pandav Nagar, which they purchased a few years ago. Authorities have confirmed that the accused committed the offenses while he was in India and then left for Croatia. The police are now working to gather additional evidence and statements from potential victims to build a strong case against him.
