Man Arrested in Concord for Assault in Salisbury

SALISBURY, N.C. (WBTV) – A male suspect was apprehended by authorities in Concord on charges of assaulting an individual in Salisbury.

48-year-old Alonzo Ivery Gibson, Jr. was taken into custody on Corban Ave. late Tuesday night and subsequently incarcerated on Wednesday. The accused, Gibson, faces multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon, terrorize/injure, breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking and entering. A bond amount of $15,000 has been set for his release.

Following an incident reported on Tuesday, Salisbury Police had issued arrest warrants for Gibson.

According to local law enforcement, the altercation commenced around 1:30 a.m. at a residence in Salisbury. The homeowner reported hearing a loud noise at the door, prompting him to investigate. The alleged perpetrator, now identified as Gibson, forcefully entered the house, forcibly pushing past the homeowner.

Subsequently, Gibson threw a large candle at the victim, hitting him with it. The suspect then proceeded to brandish a sizable piece of glass, threatening further harm to the victim, as stated by the police report. In a final act before fleeing, Gibson snatched a coat from a hanger and swiftly exited the premises.

Notably, Gibson possesses a significant criminal history. His appearance in court for the latest charges is scheduled for Wednesday.
