Armed Robbery in Sumter, SC: Mykel Tavarius Wright Identified as Suspect in Non-Fatal Shooting of Man

Accident – Death – Obituary News : SUMTER, S.C. (WIS) – The Sumter Police Department has launched a manhunt for an individual believed to be involved in an armed robbery and shooting incident that left a man injured but alive.

According to the authorities, the incident took place on Sunday evening when a 20-year-old man was accosted at gunpoint and robbed outside a business on McCray’s Mill Road. The suspect, identified as Mykel Tavarius Wright, 23, allegedly engaged in a struggle with the victim, which resulted in the young man being shot. The victim, who was acquainted with Wright, sustained non-fatal injuries and was promptly transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, he is expected to make a full recovery.

Wright is now facing charges of armed robbery and other related weapon offenses. The Sumter Police Department is appealing to the public for any information that could assist in locating Wright.
