30-Year-Old Himanshu Dies in Head-On Collision in Southwest Delhi

Accident – Death – Obituary News : New Delhi: A tragic incident took place in southwest Delhi’s Delhi Cantonment when a 30-year-old rider working for a bike-cab aggregator service lost his life in a head-on collision between a car and his bike. The incident occurred on November 25, and no arrests have been made so far.

The rider, identified as Himanshu, was a resident of Lado Sarai. The police received a distress call about the accident around 7:30 pm. A team from the local police station immediately rushed to the scene, which was in front of NSG gate number 2 in Mehram Nagar. Upon arrival, they found the scooter severely damaged, with blood splattered on the ground. A few meters away, a black car was also found damaged.

A passerby took the victim to the hospital in an autorickshaw, but unfortunately, he was declared dead upon arrival. The police have registered a case under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at the Delhi Cantt police station.

Investigation into the incident has revealed that the victim was traveling alone towards Mehram Nagar. The police have contacted the aggregator service to determine whether he was on duty at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, there were no eyewitnesses to the collision, and there were no CCTV cameras present at the location.

The police are currently working to establish who was at fault during the incident and will soon question the car driver. They are also awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death.

According to the data shared by Delhi Police, motorcyclists were the most vulnerable victims in road crashes in Delhi last year. They accounted for 552 (37.78%) of all fatalities in road crashes and 2,263 (43.49%) of all those injured. This incident highlights the need for increased awareness and safety measures for motorcyclists on Delhi’s roads.

In related news, a recent incident in Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar resulted in the death of a 32-year-old man, Suraj Prakash, while in police custody. The family members allege that he died as a result of beating by the policemen. The police intervened in a road rage altercation between two parties, but the conflict persisted, leading to Suraj Prakash falling ill and ultimately being pronounced dead at the hospital.

On a more positive note, the Agasaim panchayat in Goa paid tribute to the victims of road accidents during an awareness program organized on World Sustainable Transport Day. The program included a candlelight walk and a session on road safety conducted by traffic authorities, emphasizing the importance of road safety measures.

In another development, Delhi’s new transport guidelines mandate aggregators to transition their commercial vehicle fleets to electric mobility by April 1, 2030. This move aims to promote sustainable transportation and reduce pollution levels in the city. The scheme also allows aggregators to exclusively operate electric vehicle bike taxi services, further promoting eco-friendly transportation options.
