Under the guidance of Tahsildar S. Rajakumar, the Flying Squad successfully halted the mini truck near O. Kovilpatti. Upon inspection, the officials discovered 36 bags of rice concealed within the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the rice was intended for distribution through ration shops.
Authorities uncovered a shocking scheme during their enquiry. The trio, identified as M. Deepan Chakravarthi (30), R. Anantharam (41), and S. Prabhakaran (37), had allegedly obtained the ration rice from family card holders at a nominal rate and were planning to sell it at a significantly higher price. In order to prevent this illicit activity, the officials promptly transferred the seized rice to the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Godown.
In a bid to ensure legal consequences for their actions, the three individuals along with the mini truck were handed over to the Food Cell Criminal Investigation Department.
