Two men arrested for assaulting and murdering Vinod Mandal in South Mumbai

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Two individuals have been apprehended by the police on Sunday for their alleged involvement in the assault and murder of a 40-year-old man in South Mumbai. The incident occurred on the night of November 24 and the victim’s body was found abandoned on a footpath. The deceased has been identified as Vinod Mandal, while the two suspects are Pradip Mandal and Suraj Pramanik, both hailing from Jharkhand.

According to the LT Marge police station personnel, the three individuals were residing together in Mumbai. Previous altercations between the trio had been reported, and on the night of November 24, an argument ensued between Pradip, Suraj, and Mandal over an unspecified issue. The situation escalated as Mandal began hurling abuses, leading to Pradip and Suraj physically assaulting him. Eventually, they strangled him with a rope. Realizing that Mandal had stopped breathing, the two culprits abandoned his lifeless body on a footpath before fleeing the scene.

The LT Marg police received a tip-off about a body lying on the footpath of Dhanji Street at around 11 am on Saturday. Acting swiftly, a team was dispatched to the location, and the body was transported to GT Hospital for a postmortem examination. The autopsy confirmed that the death was a result of murder.

During the investigation, authorities examined CCTV footage and observed two unidentified individuals in the vicinity of Mandal’s body. Utilizing information from local informers, the police successfully identified Pradip and Suraj. The two suspects were traced and subsequently arrested in South Mumbai.

Following their arrest, Pradip and Suraj confessed to their involvement in the crime. On Sunday, they were presented before the court and remanded in police custody for a period of three days.

The police are continuing their investigation into the incident to gather further evidence and ascertain the full extent of the events leading up to the murder. The motive behind the verbal altercation and subsequent assault is yet to be determined.
