Tragic Bronx Crash Leaves One Dead in Apparent Road Rage Incident

NEW YORK (WLNY) — A fatal crash involving a car and a moped has left the Bronx community in shock as police investigate the incident, which appears to be a result of road rage. The collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday following a heated dispute between the drivers.

Witnesses at the scene described the aftermath as chaotic and horrifying. Cesar Garcia, who witnessed the crash, shared his account of the gruesome scene, stating, “The guy was on the floor, just a lot of blood, leg broken, and the lady was just on the floor too, crying, just scared and shocked. It was crazy.” Another witness, Ismael Ramon, immediately dialed 911 and stayed on the line until emergency services arrived.

According to eyewitnesses, a 28-year-old woman was recklessly driving a red Honda Civic at high speeds and deliberately traveling in the wrong direction on Fox Street, a one-way road. In a tragic turn of events, the woman collided with a 23-year-old man who was riding a moped near the intersection of Intervale Avenue in the Longwood area.

The impact of the crash was so powerful that it caused vibrations that could be felt in nearby buildings. Roman, a resident living on the third floor, recalled, “There was a loud bang on the building. I’m on the third floor and I felt it.”

The victim, identified as Robert Jimenez, a Bronx resident, was immediately rushed to the hospital. Sadly, despite the efforts of medical professionals, Jimenez succumbed to his injuries. The loss of a young life has left the community devastated.

Meanwhile, the female driver remained at the scene and was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police have taken her into custody, and the incident is now being treated as a homicide investigation.

As investigators meticulously gather evidence and interview witnesses, the neighborhood is left in shock and disbelief. Crime scene investigators worked late into the night, collecting crucial information to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.

Residents expressed their deep shock and sorrow over the tragic incident. Roman, reflecting on the dramatic events, shared, “It was very dramatic, to be honest. It was very dramatic.”
