Accident – Death – Obituary News : Three Palestinian students were shot in Burlington, Vermont on Saturday evening, according to local authorities. The victims, all 20-year-old men, were college students visiting the home of one of the victim’s relatives for Thanksgiving, local police said. The incident took place on North Prospect Street.
The Burlington Free Press reported that two of the men were wearing keffiyehs, a type of scarf worn in many Middle Eastern cultures, when they were assaulted. All three men were taken to the hospital, with two in stable condition and one with more serious injuries, according to local authorities.

The three students have been identified as Hisham Awartani, a student at Brown University; Kinnan Abdalhamid, a student at Haverford College; and Tahseen Ahmed, a student at Trinity College, as reported by KTLA sister station WFFF.
The shooter, however, remains at large, prompting concerns for the safety of the community. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders took to social media to express his shock and deep upset over the shooting, stating that hate has no place in Burlington or anywhere else.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has offered a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the gunman. CAIR has also called on state and federal authorities to investigate the incident for a possible bias motive.
