Young Margate Man Fatally Shot in Tamarac: Assailant Remains at Large
A tragic incident unfolded in Tamarac on the night before Thanksgiving as a young man from Margate lost his life in a fatal shooting. The Broward Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as 21-year-old Mateo Delgado, and homicide detectives are currently on the lookout for his assailant.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired in the vicinity of the 7000 block of Northwest 79th Avenue, just west of University Drive. Late Wednesday evening, they discovered Delgado suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, the young man succumbed to his injuries, and paramedics from Tamarac Fire Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene, according to an official statement by the sheriff’s office.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Delgado was inside a vehicle when the shooting occurred. After being shot, he attempted to drive away but eventually crashed into a nearby pole. The incident took place outside one of the gates of the Bonaire Woodmont residential community, leaving residents shocked and concerned.
As of now, detectives are still searching for the person responsible for this senseless act of violence.
