A man has been apprehended in Gladstone, Missouri, for the murder of a pregnant woman in Wisconsin last year. On Thursday morning, Gladstone police arrested Jose Eduardo Dominguez-Garcia, 26, after automated license plate readers detected a car with a stolen plate in the city. The vehicle, a red Ford Fusion, was found in a parking lot on Northwest Englewood Road. When officers approached the driver, he provided multiple ID cards and different names before being identified as Dominguez-Garcia from Chippewa County, Wisconsin. It was discovered that Dominguez-Garcia had outstanding warrants for first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child, and hiding a corpse in Chippewa County.

Dominguez-Garcia was taken into custody without any resistance and is currently detained in the Clay County, Missouri, Detention Center. He awaits extradition to Wisconsin to face charges. In a press release, the police highlighted the details of the original case. According to the Leader-Telegram, a local newspaper in the Chippewa Falls area, Dominguez-Garcia stands accused of murdering 25-year-old Rosaly Cindy Chavarria Rodriguez. Rodriguez, who was pregnant at the time, went missing in July 2020. Her body was later discovered in a suitcase at a farmhouse in Wheaton, Wisconsin, in October 2020.

Dominguez-Garcia and Rodriguez were reportedly co-workers at a restaurant and had been dating around the time of her disappearance. Investigators found Dominguez-Garcia’s car in Wisconsin a month after Rodriguez went missing. Suspicious fluids, indicating the presence of a decaying body, were found in the trunk of the vehicle. Subsequently, during a separate drug investigation, officers received information about a suitcase containing a body on a farm near Wheaton.

Authorities have not revealed the reason for Dominguez-Garcia’s presence in Gladstone or the duration of his stay in the area.
