Crime news: A woman from Jaipur has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a court for her involvement in the murder of her Tinder date, along with two accomplices, five years ago. The accused, identified as 27-year-old Priya Seth, was found guilty of killing 28-year-old businessman Dushyant Sharma. Sessions Judge Ajit Kumar Hinger delivered the verdict on Friday, stating that the prosecution had presented substantial evidence to establish the facts of the case. According to the prosecution counsel Sandeep Lohariya, Priya had befriended Dushyant on the dating app Tinder and subsequently lured him to a rented accommodation where she, along with her accomplices Dishkant Kamra and Lakshya Walia, held him hostage and demanded ransom from his family.

The prosecution claimed that when Dushyant’s family failed to pay the ransom, the accused stabbed him multiple times and smothered him to death using a pillow. Sandeep Lohariya further added, “The prosecution has presented sufficient evidence to establish these facts. The evidence presented by the prosecution proves the guilt of the accused,” quoting the judge’s statement.

The court convicted all three accused based on the evidence, charging them under sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offense), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. As a result, they have been sentenced to life imprisonment.

How did they meet?

Dushyant and Priya had initially connected online in February 2018 through the popular dating app Tinder. In May of the same year, Priya and her accomplices devised a plan to extort money from Dushyant’s family. They demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from his father, who eventually deposited Rs 3 lakh into his son’s account. The accused then used Dushyant’s debit card to withdraw Rs 20,000 from an ATM near Nehru Udhyan in Jaipur.

Fearing the possibility of being caught, the accused allegedly murdered Dushyant, dismembered his body, and packed the remains into a suitcase. They later disposed of the suitcase on a road in Delhi.

According to the police, both Priya and Kamra have a history of criminal activities. Priya had been arrested three times in the past, specifically in 2014, 2016, and 2017 for ATM thefts, while Kamra was previously arrested in Mumbai.
