Accident – Death – Obituary News : CANAAN TOWNSHIP — An investigation is underway by the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) following a tragic three-vehicle crash on SR-83 in Wayne County on Friday evening. The incident resulted in the loss of a life and left several others injured.
The OSHP responded to a call at around 7:15 p.m. near milepost 20, close to Canaan Township. According to the authorities, a Chevrolet Camaro traveling southbound collided with a GMC Acadia that was also heading in the same direction. The impact caused the Acadia to veer into northbound traffic, where it was subsequently struck by a Honda Odyssey.

Tragically, the driver of the GMC Acadia, identified as 26-year-old Morgan Hoxworth from Smithville, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 30-year-old passenger in the Acadia sustained injuries and was rushed to Wooster Community Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Camaro suffered minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital. Thankfully, the driver of the Honda Odyssey and its two passengers escaped the accident unharmed. It is worth noting that all individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts, as confirmed by the OSHP.
While the OSHP has not provided specific details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash, they have stated that they suspect alcohol and/or drugs may have contributed to the tragic incident.
Traffic on SR-83 was temporarily disrupted as emergency personnel responded to the scene, providing medical assistance and conducting preliminary investigations. The OSHP is working diligently to gather more information and determine the exact cause of the collision.
