Fatal Road Crash in Dorado Claims Life of 27-Year-Old Man

An early morning road crash in Dorado has resulted in the tragic loss of a 27-year-old man’s life. The deceased has been identified as Erick Nieves Alejandro. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 4:22 AM on Sunday, taking place at kilometer 25.3 of highway 165, within the jurisdiction of Dorado.

Accident Particulars

According to the police report, Nieves Alejandro was driving a 2019 gray Kía Forte when he allegedly veered into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a gray 2021 Nissan Versa. The ongoing investigation has revealed that Nieves Alejandro lost control of the steering wheel, leading to this tragic incident. It has also been noted that Nieves Alejandro was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, ultimately contributing to his demise at the scene.

Aftermath and Ongoing Investigation

The driver of the Nissan Versa was swiftly transported to the Centro Médico Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The Highway Patrol division of the Police in Bayamón promptly managed the accident scene. The report of this fatal accident was received around 4:30 AM and involved an unidentified 30-year-old driver. In order to address the obstruction caused by an oil spill on both lanes of the highway, the police arrived at the scene to regulate the traffic flow effectively.

Another Incident Comes to Light

In an unrelated incident, a driver identified as Pedro Rivera Ortega, aged 30, crashed his Mitsubishi Montero into a stationary police patrol vehicle at the intersection of highways PR-2 and PR-142. Rivera Ortega, who was driving without a valid license at the time of the accident, was found to have a blood alcohol content of .22 centésimas. Remarkably, this accident marks the second occurrence this week where an intoxicated driver collided with a police patrol vehicle.
