According to a witness at the scene, the vehicle was seen traveling south on Yale Avenue from Irvine Center Drive before careening off the road and crashing into the serene waters of North Lake. The vehicle, identified as a silver Mercedes 4-door sedan, traveled over the curb with alarming speed, plunging into the lake with a forceful impact.

The OCFA crew wasted no time in locating the submerged vehicle, which came to rest approximately 30 yards from the water’s edge. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team promptly joined the rescue efforts to assist in locating any potential occupants.

As the vehicle was brought to the surface, the lifeless body of the driver, later identified as Camilla Megan Mendoza from Long Beach, was tragically discovered inside. The authorities pronounced her deceased at the scene, leaving a sense of sorrow and disbelief among the onlookers.
