Tragic Crash in Michigan City Claims Young Life
Two Arrested in Connection with the Incident
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WNDU) – In the early hours of Saturday morning, an 18-year-old lost their life in a devastating crash in Michigan City. Following the incident, an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old have been arrested in connection with the tragedy.

Gunshots Detected, Leading Police to the Scene
The series of events unfolded when a Michigan City police officer, patrolling the north side of the city, heard multiple gunshots coming from the Eastport neighborhood. The city’s Flock Safety Raven gunshot detection system promptly alerted the officers to the 400 block of Walker Street.
Crash and Gunfire Reported Simultaneously
Shortly after receiving the gunshot detection system’s notifications, the police received a 911 call about a crash and additional gunshots in the same vicinity.
Tragic Discovery at the Scene
Upon arrival, law enforcement found a collision involving three vehicles. Tragically, 18-year-old Mykel Trice from Michigan City was discovered deceased and trapped beneath an overturned vehicle.
Arrest of Suspects
Officers apprehended 19-year-old Jordan Glancy from LaPorte, who was identified as the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash. Meanwhile, investigators were deployed to Franciscan Health Michigan City Hospital upon receiving reports of an 18-year-old, Jermaine Carter Jr., seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his right leg.

Charges and Bonds
Following his discharge from the hospital, Carter was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, and unlawful carrying of a handgun. He has been assigned a cash bond of $100,005.
Glancy, on the other hand, was arrested for dealing a schedule I controlled substance and dealing marijuana, and his cash bond has been set at $50,005.
Legal Proceedings
Both Carter and Glancy are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning for a probable cause review hearing.

The crash and shooting incident are currently under investigation. Authorities urge anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses additional information, including surveillance or cell phone footage, to come forward and assist Detective Sergeant Lendell Hood.
