In the early hours of Saturday, November 25, police officers were conducting routine patrols on the north side of Michigan City when they were startled by the sound of multiple gunshots coming from the 400 block of Walker Street.

Responding swiftly, the officers discovered a scene of chaos and tragedy as they stumbled upon three vehicles involved in a harrowing crash.

Tragically, Mykel Trice, an 18-year-old resident of Michigan City, was found lifeless, pinned beneath one of the overturned vehicles.

Further investigation revealed that Jordan Glancy, a 19-year-old from LaPorte, was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

Meanwhile, another twist emerged as investigators were called to Franciscan Health Michigan City Hospital to attend to a patient who had sustained a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, they encountered Jermaine Carter Jr., an 18-year-old resident of Michigan City, who was undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound to his right leg, fortunately classified as non-life-threatening.

After receiving medical care, Carter Jr. was subsequently taken into custody by investigators.

The arrest of Glancy followed, as he was found to be in possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and marijuana, leading to charges related to drug dealing.

On the other hand, Carter Jr. faced more severe allegations, including attempted murder, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, and unlawfully carrying a handgun.

Both Glancy and Carter Jr. are scheduled to have a probable cause review hearing at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28.

The Michigan City Police Department is urging anyone who witnessed the incident, possesses additional information, or has access to video surveillance or cell phone footage of the occurrence to come forward and assist in the investigation.
