Accident – Death – Obituary News : **Authorities Investigate Tragic Death of Woman after Car Plunges into Manmade Lake in Irvine**
Orange County authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the death of a woman who tragically lost her life after her car careened into a manmade lake in Irvine on Thanksgiving Day.
The Irvine Police Department reported that Irvine police officers and firefighters swiftly responded to distress calls at approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday. The incident occurred at the intersection of West Yale Loop and East Yale Loop, south of Irvine Center Drive.
A witness at the scene revealed that the female driver was heading south on Yale Loop when her silver Mercedes four-door sedan suddenly veered off the road and plunged into the lake.
Fire officials faced significant challenges in locating the submerged car due to the thick and murky water. Captain Thanh Nguyen, from the Orange County Fire Authority, stated that it took some time for the rescue teams, consisting of two swift-water rescue teams, rescue trucks, and multiple helicopters, to determine the exact position of the vehicle.
Once located, the car was found approximately 30 yards from the water’s edge. Tragically, the woman, who was alone in the vehicle, was recovered from inside the car and pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been identified as Camilla Megan Mendoza from Long Beach.
