BURKE: Vermont State Police Respond to Single-Vehicle Accident at Intersection of VT Route 114 and Mountain Road

On the evening of November 24, at approximately 8:32 p.m., the Vermont State Police swiftly responded to a distress call reporting a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of VT Route 114 and Mountain Road in Burke.

Upon reaching the scene, the troopers were confronted with a scene of a car that had collided head-on with a sturdy tree, causing severe damage to the vehicle.

The driver of the car, identified as 24-year-old Ivie Carle hailing from St. Johnsbury, remarkably escaped the crash without sustaining any injuries, despite the fact that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

However, troopers immediately noticed several indicators suggesting that Carle was impaired, leading them to suspect her involvement in driving under the influence (DUI).

Consequently, the authorities took Carle into custody on charges of a DUI offense and transported her to the St. Johnsbury State Police Barracks for further processing and investigation.

After an extensive investigation, it was determined that both alcohol impairment and excessive speed played significant roles in causing the unfortunate accident at the VT Route 114 and Mountain Road intersection in Burke.
