The victim, who is in his 20s and remains unidentified, suffered from “extra jural bleeding” which caused his brain to shift, leading to his current critical condition. Sydney-based Special Broadcasting Service reported on the severity of the victim’s injuries.

The police arrested a 25-year-old resident of Lenah Valley, identified as Benjamin Dodge Collings, shortly after the incident. Collings has been charged with criminal code assault, an offense that carries a maximum sentence of 21 years in prison.

However, Collings was granted magistrate bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on December 4 to answer to the accusations. The charges against him not only include assault but also providing false name and address, resisting a police officer, and unrelated driving offenses.
