The CTV News Ottawa team is mourning the loss of one of their own, as long-time journalist Norman Fetterley passed away at the age of 74. Fetterley began his career in broadcast journalism at CJRN Radio in Niagara Falls in 1967 before transitioning to television in Thunder Bay.
Throughout his illustrious career, Fetterley served as Parliamentary Correspondent for CJOH and CTV News, providing coverage of prime ministers Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Joe Clark, John Turner, Brian Mulroney, Kim Campbell, and Jean Chretien. Eventually, Fetterley found his permanent home at CTV News Ottawa, where he became a staple in the newsroom.
Fetterley’s contributions extended beyond his reporting duties, hosting the widely popular segment Gallery Talk. Known for his extensive knowledge of Parliament, Canadian history, and the Monarchy, Fetterley was a valuable resource to his colleagues. After more than 45 years on the air, he retired from CTV News Ottawa in June 2013.
Norman Fetterley will be remembered as a devoted husband to Elizabeth and a beloved father to Jessica and Emily, with baby Amanda sadly predeceasing him.
