26-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Attempting to Open Emergency Exit Mid-Flight, Tests Positive for Meth

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Incheon, November 25: A 26-year-old woman was apprehended after allegedly attempting to open the emergency exit door mid-flight on a Korean Air plane traveling from New York to Incheon, South Korea, on November 23. The incident occurred when the passenger displayed signs of anxiety approximately 10 hours into the 15-hour flight. Flight attendants managed to subdue her after several attempts to access the emergency door.

Upon arrival at Incheon International Airport, the woman underwent a drug screening, which confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in her system. The Incheon International Airport Police have launched an investigation and are considering charges under the Aviation Security Act and the Narcotics Control Act, as the woman, identified as Ms. A, had been in New York for over six months before entering South Korea the previous day.

Authorities have revealed that the woman has no history of mental illness or psychiatric treatment. It is important to note that attempting to open an emergency exit door during a flight carries severe consequences, including the possibility of imprisonment for up to 10 years. Additionally, individuals facing drug charges may also be subject to a 10-year prison term or a fine exceeding USD 76,000.

This incident marks the third occurrence of a passenger attempting to open emergency doors on Korean flights this year. In a similar incident a month earlier, an off-duty pilot in Oregon, allegedly under the influence of magic mushrooms, attempted to crash a fully occupied plane. The pilot is now facing attempted murder charges for endangering the lives of all 83 individuals on board.
