In a heart-wrenching incident, a 20-year-old woman, who was a student at a private medical college in Ghaziabad, was found dead in a fountain on the premises of a residential high-rise in Indirapuram. The police have revealed that the woman died by suicide, jumping off the roof of one of the towers in the complex.

The distressing discovery was made on Saturday morning, although the authorities believe that the incident occurred the evening before, based on CCTV footage from the area. The Indirapuram police conducted a thorough investigation at the high-rise, which lasted for six hours, and were able to identify the young woman. It was revealed that she used to frequent the high-rise to visit her male friend, who resided there.

According to the police, the woman lived in a rented flat in the Shakti Khand locality of Indirapuram and had met her male friend approximately a year ago through an online dating and friendship app. The investigators also discovered that the two had been in a live-in relationship, but had recently separated about a month ago.

“After a thorough investigation and communication with the woman’s family, we came to know that she was depressed and on medication. About 10 days ago, her male friend decided to shift to Mumbai to pursue a career in movies, and he was scheduled to leave on Saturday. Based on the CCTV footage, we have determined that the woman arrived at her friend’s flat in the high-rise around 9 am on Friday and left around 1:30 pm. She was spotted again around 6:08 pm in a lift, and just three minutes later, she jumped off from the 22-storey terrace,” explained Swtantra Kumar Singh, assistant commissioner of police, Indirapuram.

The police found a pair of sandals on the terrace, which were later confirmed to belong to the deceased woman by her family. It was discovered that she fell into the fountain on the ground floor at the rear of the tower, which is why the residents did not notice her until Saturday morning. CCTV footage has also been recovered, clearly showing the heartbreaking moment when she fell from the tower.

The woman was the daughter of a businessman in Delhi, while her male friend is a senior official of a multinational corporation in Gurugram. The police confirmed that both families were aware of the relationship between the two individuals.

Investigators believe that the woman was deeply upset about her friend’s departure and relocation to Mumbai. “After a thorough investigation, it appears that she jumped on her own, and there is no evidence of foul play at the scene. We have sent the body for an autopsy, and we are currently awaiting the results. So far, her family has not come forward to file a complaint,” stated Shubham Patel, deputy commissioner of police (trans-Hindon).
