However, the suspect vehicle managed to avoid the spike strips and once again turned off its headlights. Shockingly, the driver then veered off the roadway and drove directly at an assisting deputy.

Fearing for his life, the deputy fired two shots at the vehicle. Although the shots struck the vehicle, the driver remained unharmed. The pursuit eventually crossed into Monroe County, where the driver finally decided to stop and surrender to sheriff’s deputies without incident. The suspect, a 16-year-old from Macon Township, was taken into custody and lodged at the Maurice Spear Campus.
