Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 795 Leaves One Dead and Several Injured

Pennsylvania Woman Killed in Tragic Accident

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WBFF) — A devastating multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a Pennsylvania woman and left another person injured on Interstate 795, according to the Maryland State Police (MSP).

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of the four-vehicle collision on I-795 North, just before Westminster Pike, at approximately 1 p.m.

The MSP reported that a 2011 Ford F150 pickup truck, traveling south on I-795, collided with the rear end of a 2005 Ford F350 pickup truck. The impact caused both vehicles to veer into the grassy median, crashing into the metal cable barrier and continuing in the northbound direction of I-795.

Tragically, a 2017 Toyota Rav4 was struck head-on by the Ford F350, while a 2016 Toyota Corolla was hit by debris from the initial collision, as stated by the MSP.

Regrettably, Kaitlin Elizabeth Stranick, a 30-year-old woman from Hanover, Pa., who was driving the 2017 Toyota Rav4, succumbed to her injuries at the scene, as confirmed by Baltimore County fire personnel.

The 23-year-old driver of the Ford F350 truck was promptly transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for their injuries. Fortunately, no other drivers involved in the accident sustained any injuries, according to the MSP.

MSP investigators are diligently working to determine the cause of the accident. Once their investigation is complete, they will submit a comprehensive report to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office, which will then decide whether charges should be pressed in relation to this tragic incident.

Following the collision, the northbound lanes of I-795 were temporarily closed for approximately four hours to facilitate the investigation and clear the scene.
