Accident – Death – Obituary News : Lucknow: A nine-year-old boy was tragically knocked down by a speeding SUV on the G20 road two days ago, prompting the police to launch a massive crackdown on those racing and not following road safety rules on the stretch. In a drive that lasted for three hours and began at 5.30 pm on Thursday, the police seized 15 vehicles, detained one person (who was later released), and booked 50 riders.

To ensure that proper speed limits are adhered to, 44 barriers have been installed at 11 spots along the five-kilometer stretch. In a related development, recent articles published by the Times of India have highlighted similar incidents where speeding vehicles have caused tragic accidents. In one case, a race to touch a speed of 150 kmph resulted in an ASP’s son being knocked down by the accused. The investigation revealed that the accused, Devshri Verma, instigated the driver to drive at high speed. The vehicle involved in the incident belonged to Devshri Verma’s uncle. Both Devshri and his uncle confessed to being aware of the limited police checking in the early morning, which prompted them to take the vehicle for a ride. The police have served a notice to Sarthak’s father, Ravindra, for providing false information and attempting to help the accused escape.

In another incident, three people were killed and five others injured in a trailer accident in Ramgarh. The accident occurred when the trailer, with a Nagaland registration number plate, overturned after the driver lost control due to brake failure. The trailer collided with three vehicles, including a car and a tractor. The deceased were identified as Dinesh Bediya, Shankar Bediya, and an unidentified attendant of the trailer. The accident caused traffic congestion for over six hours on the Ranchi-Patna highway.
