Man Who Headbutted and Kicked Police Officers Faces Felony Vandalism Charge: Dwight Bonapart II Arrested

Accident – Death – Obituary News : CELINA, Ohio (WANE) — A man involved in a disturbing incident is now facing a Level 5 felony vandalism charge after allegedly headbutting and kicking police officers, as well as causing damage to a police vehicle. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reported the incident that took place in the 12000 block of Dutton Road near Mendon, Ohio.

Authorities were alerted to the scene at approximately 5:46 p.m. on Thursday, following reports of an “elaborate scheme” and claims of gunshots and potential fatalities. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the suspect, identified as Dwight Bonapart II, sitting in a truck with loaded firearms both inside and outside the vehicle, according to the MCSO.

Bonapart, who was found outside a nearby residence, allegedly made comments to the police that suggested the homeowners might be inside and in imminent danger. Concerned for the safety of both the residents and themselves, the MCSO deputies requested assistance from the Celina Police Department and Rockford Police Department in detaining Bonapart.

During the attempt to detain him, Bonapart reportedly headbutted a Celina Police Department Officer and kicked another officer, displaying aggressive behavior towards the authorities. Furthermore, Bonapart was accompanied by a dog that reportedly bit multiple officers at the scene, adding to the chaotic situation.

Fortunately, after a struggle, the police managed to apprehend and arrest Bonapart. He was subsequently transported to the Mercer County Jail. While some officers stayed behind to ensure the safety of the homeowners, it was determined that everyone was unharmed.

However, the disruption caused by Bonapart did not end there. On the way to jail, he continued to exhibit unruly behavior, repeatedly kicking the rear, driver’s side door of the police vehicle. As a result, the door sustained significant damage and could no longer close properly.
