The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Rural Police’s Local Crime Branch (LCB) has achieved a major breakthrough in the recent goldsmith robbery case, apprehending three individuals who targeted and robbed a local goldsmith. The arrested culprits have been identified as Gajanan Dhage (25), Subhash Kature (30), and Vitthal Kaichat (27), all residents of Pirsavangi, Jalna.

The incident took place on the evening of November 16 when goldsmith Murlidhar Vitthalrao Maid (50), the owner of a renowned jewelry showroom in Karmad, was returning home after closing his shop for the day. In a shocking turn of events, Maid was accosted by three individuals riding a motorcycle.

According to the complaint lodged by Maid, the robbers employed a cunning tactic to carry out their nefarious act. They threw chili powder directly into Maid’s eyes, temporarily blinding him. Taking advantage of his disorientation, they swiftly snatched his bag, which contained a substantial amount of gold jewelry weighing 1,300 grams, with an estimated value of Rs 66,500. The victim immediately reported the incident to the Karmad police station.

Responding to the urgency of the case, SP Maneesh Kalwaniya directed LCB PI Wagh to launch a parallel investigation into the matter. Acting on crucial information received from reliable informers regarding the whereabouts of the robbers from Pirsavangi in Jalna district, a dedicated police team, comprising PI Wagh, PSI Bhagatsingh Dulat, Namdev Shirsat, Dipesh Nagzare, Sanjay Ghuge, Valmik Nikam, Ashok Wagh, Yogesh Tarmale, Jeevan Gholap, Sanjay Tandale, and others, conducted a meticulously planned raid on a farm located in Pirsavangi.

The operation proved to be a resounding success as the authorities managed to apprehend all three suspects. In addition to the arrests, the police also seized a motorcycle that was used by the criminals during the robbery. Furthermore, mobile phones and various other articles, collectively valued at Rs 1 lakh, were confiscated as evidence.
