HENDERSONVILLE – In a shocking incident that unfolded in the early hours of November 24, an Asheville man lost his life in a reported shooting at the Henderson Crossing Plaza parking lot. The suspect, responsible for the heinous act, is still at large, leaving the community on edge.

According to a news release by the City of Hendersonville, the Hendersonville Police received a distress call at approximately 2:36 a.m. regarding a disturbance involving gunshots in the parking lot of Orchard Bar & Grill at Henderson Crossing. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Elijah Edward Timmons III, hailing from Asheville.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the lifeless body of Timmons, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Authorities managed to locate and secure a firearm, believed to belong to the deceased.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Timmons was engaged in a heated altercation with the assailant before succumbing to the fatal gunshot. Although the suspect remains at large, law enforcement officials assure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to public safety.

Lieutenant Alan Bonanno, speaking to the Times-News, stated that due to the ongoing investigation, no further details can be provided at this time.

This unfortunate incident marks the second shooting fatality within the city of Hendersonville this year, as reported by the police department. The previous incident occurred on October 10, when 35-year-old Sam Antwan Ivey, an employee at the McDonald’s on Four Seasons Boulevard, allegedly shot and killed 30-year-old Jacklyn Marie Reed from Johnson City, Tennessee. It is worth noting that the McDonald’s establishment is owned by U.S. Congressman Chuck Edwards.

Ivey has been charged with second-degree murder, and his next court appearance is scheduled for December 14, according to court records.
