Arrest Made After Gunfire Incident in Southeast Colorado Springs

Authorities from the Colorado Springs Police Department have apprehended a suspect following an alarming incident involving shots fired in the southeastern part of the city. The incident took place near the 3600 block of El Morro Road, prompting swift action from law enforcement officials.

At approximately 10:46 p.m., concerned citizens alerted the police about the sound of gunshots echoing through the neighbourhood. Responding promptly, officers arrived at the scene to find both a male suspect and a female victim present.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, the Domestic Violence/Adult Sexual Assault Unit detectives were summoned to take charge of the investigation, as stated by a police lieutenant in an online blotter entry.

The suspect has been identified as 64-year-old Mark Stethem, who has since been apprehended and is now in police custody. Stethem is now facing multiple charges, including second-degree assault and felony menacing.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of this alarming incident.
