A tragic incident unfolded in Mugalivakkam on Thursday night as a 56-year-old man, Sugumaran, lost his life in a violent altercation with his younger brother over a property dispute. Sugumaran, who worked as a security personnel in a private company, was fatally stabbed by his brother, Arulraj, following a heated argument.

The unfortunate incident occurred in a house where the three siblings, Sugumaran, Valliappan (47), and Arulraj (40), along with their families resided together. The dispute erupted when an intoxicated Arulraj engaged in a disagreement with Sugumaran regarding the partitioning of their shared property.

The argument escalated quickly, and Arulraj, in a fit of rage, grabbed a knife and viciously stabbed Sugumaran in the chest. Valliappan, who attempted to intervene and calm the situation, also fell victim to Arulraj’s attack. Tragically, Sugumaran succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

Local authorities swiftly responded to the distressing incident, with the Mangadu police promptly registering a case. Arulraj was taken into custody by the police, and appropriate legal actions will be pursued.
