MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Authorities have taken an 18-year-old into custody in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in the Binghampton neighborhood on Thursday. The shooting claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy.

The suspect, identified as Edion White, is facing charges of first-degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon. According to the police, White was the driver of the vehicle used in the shooting.

The victim has been identified as 15-year-old Anthony Mason. He tragically lost his life at the scene of the incident, which occurred in the 300 block of Vandalia Street.

According to authorities, the events leading up to the shooting were captured on video footage. It showed Mason walking outside to a Hyundai Sonata, where individuals inside the car were seen passing around firearms.

During the altercation, one of the suspects attempted to take a gun from Mason, resulting in a struggle. Another suspect then pulled out a firearm and shot Mason in the head.

Following the shooting, the suspects fled the scene. Police have been actively investigating the incident since it occurred.

During their investigation, law enforcement officers discovered text messages on the victim’s phone that implicated him and one of the suspects. The messages indicated that they had arranged to trade weapons.

While White has been apprehended, a second suspect mentioned in the police report has not yet been taken into custody or charged. Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate and apprehend the individual.

Records indicate that White confessed to driving the vehicle used in the shooting. He claimed to have known that the other suspect intended to rob Mason. Furthermore, it was revealed that the firearm used to kill the victim belonged to White.

White is scheduled to appear in court on November 27 to face the charges brought against him in relation to the shooting.
