According to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 10:41 p.m. when a deputy noticed an SUV driving recklessly and at a high speed on M-50 near Billmyer Highway. The deputy attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the 16-year-old driver refused to stop and turned off their headlights.

The pursuit continued into Ridgeway Township and Macon Township, where the sheriff’s office deployed stop sticks at Holloway Road and Britton Highway in an attempt to disable the vehicle. However, the driver managed to avoid the spike strips, once again turned off their headlights, and veered off the road.

In a dangerous turn of events, the suspect then drove directly at a deputy, prompting the officer to fire two shots at the vehicle. Fortunately, the shots only struck the vehicle and not the driver.

The chase continued into Monroe County before the 16-year-old suspect finally came to a stop. The driver, who resides in Macon Township, was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement.
