Victim of Domestic Violence Seeks Protection Order After Assault by Boyfriend

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Police in West Akron are investigating multiple incidents, including a domestic violence call, a robbery, and a shooting. On November 13, a woman called the police claiming that her boyfriend had thrown her to the floor and possibly broken her arm. However, she declined to press charges and instead requested documentation to file for a protection order. She was taken to the hospital for treatment, while the police continued to search for her boyfriend.

The next day, on November 14, a robbery occurred at a business on Merriman Road. Two males attempted to purchase vapor products, but when they couldn’t provide identification, the clerk denied the purchase. One of the males jumped over the counter, punched the clerk in the face, and stole some vapor supplies. Both suspects fled the store, but the police later stopped their vehicle on Kenmore Boulevard. They arrested a 16-year-old male and charged him with robbery. The other male in the vehicle was determined to be uninvolved in the incident and was released, while the police continue to search for the second suspect.

In the early hours of November 16, police were called to a hospital where a 17-year-old girl was being treated for a gunshot wound. She had been a passenger in a vehicle when another vehicle pulled up and fired a shot into their car. The victim’s injury was not life-threatening, and the police are now working to identify the suspect responsible for the shooting.

On November 17, a woman was arrested for shoplifting merchandise worth $59 from a store on West Market Street. The police investigation is ongoing.

In other nearby areas, police in Bath responded to various incidents. On November 9, they investigated a report of an abandoned bird at a bus stop. The bird was later released to Parrot Hope rescue service. A resident reported on November 9 that someone had ordered checks to be delivered to a bank branch but found out that two checks had been written to an unknown individual. The checks were not cashed, but the resident closed their account and was advised to monitor their credit and bank accounts. On November 10, a Bath Township resident reported falling victim to a scam after sending money to someone they had been conversing with. The victim notified their bank, which is also conducting an investigation. Also on November 10, a resident reported items missing from their home. Police are investigating the incident.

In Copley, police responded to various incidents as well. On November 15, they received a report of a man urinating on a building on Cleveland-Massillon Road. The man was located and charged with public indecency. On November 16, police searched for a man who had concealed clothing in a duffle bag and left a store without paying for it. They also responded to a disturbance at a hotel where a woman was advised that her dispute over a deposit was a civil matter. However, she refused to cooperate with the police and was ultimately charged with resisting arrest.

In Fairlawn, a woman was charged with theft and misuse of a credit card on November 8. She had admitted to using a card that she had taken from a mall store and using it for purchases at two other mall stores.

In Norton, police cautioned a man about the dangers of sending nude photos of himself online, particularly to people he doesn’t know. They also advised him to make his social media sites private after he reported engaging with a woman on a website who then threatened to disseminate his photos unless he paid her. Police advised him to cease all contact with her. On November 10, police investigated a report from a woman who stated that a man had violated a court order by contacting her via phone and text messages. The following day, the man was charged with violation of a protection order and taken into custody.

In Peninsula and Boston, police responded to various incidents as well. An Akron woman was cited for speeding and driving under suspension on November 2. A Cleveland Heights man was arrested on November 6 on a warrant related to a child-support license suspension. A Cuyahoga Falls man reported receiving threatening calls since October 26, and the police contacted the suspect, who was uncooperative. Lastly, police responded to a disabled tractor-trailer and pulled over a MINI Cooper driver who was driving recklessly and attempting to flee from the police.
