Three Men Plead Guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter in Brutal San Joaquin County Bar Beating Case

San Joaquin County, located in California, has recently witnessed a major development in the infamous 2022 beating death case of a Lodi man outside a local bar. According to the latest information obtained by KCRA 3 News, three men, namely Aaron Davis, Jason Blasingame, and Lloyd Strack, have pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. The pleas were entered on October 12 and were accepted by the authorities. As a result, each of the defendants has been sentenced to six years in prison for the felony manslaughter charges they faced.

The victim of this heinous crime was identified as 45-year-old Steven Buchan. However, due to the sensitive nature of the case, all family members of the deceased who spoke with KCRA 3 wished to remain anonymous. Expressing their disappointment with the sentencing, one of the family members stated, “He was discarded initially, and this sentencing really feels like that just occurred again.” The family seeks answers regarding the investigation process and questions whether six years is an appropriate sentence considering the violent nature of the crime.

“It’s just senseless,” the family member continued. “How does someone go to an establishment and end up dead just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time?” The family also highlighted the fact that Buchan did not frequent the bar where the incident took place, further raising concerns about the tragic circumstances surrounding his death.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office made a public appeal for assistance in locating Jason Blasingame last November. The authorities reported that on May 1, 2022, Buchan was brutally beaten and left to die outside a bar in Clements, a rural town located roughly 12 miles east of Lodi. At the time, Aaron Davis and Lloyd Strack were already in custody, while Blasingame remained at large. It was later revealed that both Blasingame and Strack were affiliated with the Stockton chapter of the notorious motorcycle club, Hells Angels.

Following the recent sentencing, another family member of the victim expressed doubts about whether justice was truly served in this case. In a quest for more information and clarification regarding the sentences handed down, members of Buchan’s family have arranged a meeting with the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, which is scheduled to take place next week.
