NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man has been apprehended on charges of attempted criminal homicide after allegedly firing shots at a vehicle on Briley Parkway. The suspect, identified as Douglas-Alberto Angel-Castillo, was arrested on Wednesday following a report made by the victim who claimed to have been shot at while driving in the area.

According to the arrest report from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when the victim dialed 911 to inform the dispatcher about the shooting. The victim stated that he was entering Briley Parkway South from Gallatin Pike when he tried to prevent another vehicle from cutting him off during the merging process.

As the victim was attempting to merge, he heard five loud “pops” which turned out to be gunshots. One of the bullets struck just below the driver’s side window, as per the police. Fleeing from the scene, the victim’s vehicle was targeted once again, resulting in a bullet hitting the rear bumper.

The suspect, Angel-Castillo, was later identified and taken into custody. During questioning, he confessed to shooting at the vehicle, claiming that the victim had thrown a water bottle at him while they were both stuck in traffic, according to the police.
