Accident – Death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man in Las Vegas has been arrested for the murder of another man, which police say was motivated by jealousy. According to police documents, the suspect shot and killed the victim, whom he and his girlfriend had bought fentanyl from. The incident occurred on November 11 at around 11:20 p.m. when authorities received reports of a shooting at the intersection of Silverheart Avenue and Abbey Drive.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers and medical personnel discovered a man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on the scene. The victim was later identified as Oscar Escobedo.

Surveillance footage from the area revealed an off-screen argument, during which a male voice repeatedly ordered someone to get on the ground and raise their hands. Moments later, five gunshots were heard. The video also captured a vehicle speeding away from the scene on Abbey Drive, before returning briefly and then leaving once again.

The victim’s family informed the police that Escobedo had recently gone through a divorce, which led to him using unknown substances and associating with individuals involved in fraud and forgery crimes related to vehicles.

Detectives discovered a Facebook Messenger conversation on a cell phone found at the crime scene between Escobedo and a person named “Shelly Gonzalez.” In the conversation, Shelly asked Escobedo for some “blues,” which is a term used to refer to fentanyl. Just before the shooting, Escobedo received a message from Shelly indicating that she was on her way.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle seen in the surveillance footage belonged to a 28-year-old man named Tyler Knocke. It was also discovered that prior to the shooting, Knocke’s girlfriend, Shalisa Ness, had called 911 to report Knocke’s fentanyl overdose at a residence on Jansen Avenue. The vehicle matching the one in the video was spotted by police at that location.

Ness was identified as the person behind the Facebook account belonging to “Shelly Gonzalez.” During questioning, Knocke admitted to being the owner of the vehicle, but stated that Ness occasionally drove it. He described their five-month-long relationship as rocky, citing Ness’s drug addiction and her alleged infidelity with multiple men. Knocke claimed that he was frequently jealous and accused her of cheating.

When interviewed by the police, Ness expressed her unwillingness to take responsibility for the crime. She claimed that Knocke had become agitated and wanted more fentanyl, so she arranged a meeting with Escobedo. Ness dropped Knocke off a few houses away from the meeting point because she feared for Escobedo’s safety. As Escobedo exited the vehicle, Knocke confronted him, leading to a heated argument. Ness shouted at Knocke to get back in the car, but he grabbed her gun and fired multiple shots at Escobedo.

After the shooting, Knocke and Ness drove away from the scene, but eventually returned to retrieve Knocke’s dropped cell phone. They then drove back to their residence.

Knocke denied that the murder was premeditated, stating that his intention was to confront Escobedo about his relationship with Ness. He was subsequently arrested on a charge of open murder and is currently being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 10.

Ness was initially charged with open murder as well, but that charge has since been dismissed. She now faces charges of mail theft, obtaining or possessing credit or debit cards without the cardholder’s consent, and possessing forged or counterfeit documents. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 5..
