Accident – Death – Obituary News : Army Kills Hardcore Lashkar-e-Toiba Terrorist in Encounter in Rajouri District

In a significant operation, the Indian Army successfully neutralized a hardcore Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist in the dense forest of Kalakote in Rajouri district. The encounter, which began on Wednesday morning, concluded on Thursday, leaving the terrorist dead. According to officials, the slain terrorist was an expert sniper and had received training in guerrilla warfare and assembling improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The terrorist, identified as Quari, was a Pakistan national and held a high-ranking position within the LeT. He had undergone training on the Pakistan-Afghanistan front and had been active in the Rajouri-Poonch region for the past year. Quari was believed to be the mastermind behind the Dhangri and Kandi attacks, which claimed the lives of seven members of the Hindu community earlier this year.

Quari’s elimination is a significant blow to the LeT and its operations in the region. Officials described him as a highly skilled operative who specialized in IEDs and was proficient in operating from caves in the jungles. He was also trained as a sniper, making him a formidable threat to security forces.

The encounter in Kalakote unfolded after the terrorists were spotted at a house in the area, where they were seeking food. A video of the duo interacting with women for food had been widely circulated on social media. The terrorists had also assaulted a nomad, Sarfaraz Ahmed, when he refused to provide them with food. Sarfaraz, however, bravely informed the security forces about their presence, leading to the operation.

During the encounter, the Indian Army suffered casualties, losing two captains, a havaldar, and a jawan. Two injured soldiers were evacuated to the Command Hospital in Udhampur and are reported to be in stable condition. The operation, which is still ongoing, involves the 63 RR troops, 9 Para (Special Forces), and various other units.

The encounter site is located in a dense forest on a treacherous mountain near Baji Sahab Darbar on the Bravi link road in Kalakote. The area’s proximity to the Line of Control indicates that the terrorists had received guidance and logistical support from their sympathizers across the border in Pakistan.

Given the challenging terrain, additional reinforcements have been deployed, and drones are being utilized to locate any remaining terrorists. Security forces have been on high alert in Rajouri and Poonch districts due to an increase in terrorist activities this year.

Earlier this year, seven members of the Hindu community, including two minors, were killed in Dhangri village in Rajouri district. In separate incidents, five soldiers were ambushed in Tota Gali, Poonch, and five commandos of the Para special forces lost their lives in an IED blast in the Kandi forest of Rajouri.

The Northern Army commander had previously warned that nearly 200 terrorists were waiting across the Line of Control in Pakistan, intending to infiltrate into Indian territory. However, alert troops have been deployed at the borders to combat and eliminate the threat.

The successful elimination of Quari is another significant achievement for the Indian Army in its ongoing efforts to counter terrorism in the region. The operation exemplifies the determination and bravery of security forces in safeguarding the nation against external threats.
