Florida Mother-of-Three Found Stabbed to Death, Apartment Set Ablaze with Children Inside: 10-Month-Old Baby Dies in Hospital

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Tragedy struck in Daytona Beach, Florida, as a mother-of-three was found brutally stabbed to death inside her apartment, which had been set ablaze. The most heart-wrenching part of this horrific crime is that her three young children were still inside the apartment when the incident occurred. Adding to the devastation, the 10-month-old baby boy passed away hours later in the hospital.

The victim, identified as Den’Jah Moore, was covered in stab wounds when firefighters arrived at her home on Belville Road around midnight on Tuesday. Despite their best efforts, Moore was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters also discovered the baby boy in his crib, along with his two siblings, aged four and five, inside the burning structure. Desperate to save their lives, the three children were rushed to Halifax Hospital.

Tragically, the 10-month-old baby boy succumbed to cardiac arrest and passed away at the hospital. The two other children were transferred to a hospital in Gainesville, Florida, where they remain in critical condition as of Wednesday. The injuries sustained by the children were a result of being left to die in the fully engulfed fire, according to Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young.

In a shocking turn of events, Charles Ivy, a 34-year-old man, was arrested by Daytona Police near his home in Ormond Beach on Wednesday. He was taken into custody on the grounds of probable cause and has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted felony murder, and arson. Ivy is the father of the four and five-year-old children, making the case “definitely domestic in nature,” as stated by Young during a press conference. However, the motive behind this heinous crime remains unknown.

Fire officials reported that at least two fires were burning simultaneously inside the apartment. One fire is believed to have started in the bedroom, while the other began in the kitchen. Shockingly, all four burners on the stove were turned on. Additionally, debris, including burnt paper and a box, were discovered at the scene.

Speaking during the press conference, Young highlighted Ivy’s previous criminal record, describing it as “criminally minimal.” He expressed his horror at the extent of the crime, stating, “With what we witnessed throughout this investigation, the defendant in this incident deserves a special place in the gates of hell for what he did to this mother and these children. Again, I have never witnessed anything this horrific in my entire career.”

Although Ivy did not confess, he placed himself at the scene during the time the murders would have occurred. Through the use of technology, police were able to track his vehicle using traffic cameras after he left the scene. Furthermore, Ivy was found in possession of the victim’s cell phone, further implicating him in the crime.

Young emphasized that the evidence against Ivy is clear and speaks for itself. He expressed his gratitude to the firefighters for their swift actions in saving the lives of the other two children, who may not have survived without their intervention. The police chief thanked the responding officers, medical staff, and the state attorney’s office for their efforts in obtaining arrest warrants. He also commended the investigators who worked tirelessly to gather leads and make an arrest so close to the Thanksgiving holiday.
