Arrested accused in Byculla shooting case identified as Imran alias Babu Shaikh and Aurangzeb alias Sheru Khan

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Mumbai: The Byculla police, who are currently investigating a firing incident that occurred near Mazgaon circle on November 18, have successfully apprehended two individuals, including the person responsible for providing a homemade pistol to one of the suspects, according to police sources. Joint Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Satya Narayan Chaudhri confirmed the arrest of the two accused, identified as Imran alias Babu Shaikh (33) and Aurangzeb alias Sheru Khan (33), on Wednesday.

The arrested individuals were produced before a court and have been remanded to police custody until November 24. Initial investigations revealed that the accused had confessed to the police that their intention was to scare the complainant and his associates, who were involved in the gutkha business, in order to extort money from them. The Byculla police had registered a case of attempted murder under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act.

The incident occurred when three individuals were sitting together and two men on a motorcycle arrived at the scene at around 3 am on November 18. One of the accused then brandished a firearm and fired a single round at the group. Fortunately, the bullet hit a stone and no one was injured. The police are currently searching for the shooter and the mastermind behind the attack, whose identity has not yet been disclosed.

In recent news, the Times of India has reported on several other criminal incidents. One such incident took place in Pune, where two men were arrested for firing at a jeweler and robbing him of cash and ornaments worth Rs1.1 lakh. The police have also recovered two country-made pistols from the suspects’ rented house. It was revealed during the investigation that the shooter and his accomplice had worked as garbage collectors and had befriended an individual who provided them with food during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2000. Another person was also arrested for stealing one of the motorcycles used in the crime.

Another incident reported by the Times of India occurred in Karimganj, where the prime accused in a 200-year-old Hindu temple arson case sustained a bullet injury while attempting to escape from the police. The accused, Anwar Ali, was arrested in Tripura, and during the investigation, he led the police to a hidden gun. However, he tried to flee and was subsequently shot by the police. He is currently receiving treatment at the Karimganj civil hospital.

Lastly, in Delhi, a horrific incident unfolded when a 28-year-old factory laborer from Bihar was assaulted by three individuals after he objected to their verbal abuse. The assailants brutally beat him and even inserted an iron rod into his anus. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment, and two people have been arrested in connection with the attack. The police have added charges of unnatural offenses and attempted murder to the case. The victim’s condition remains critical, and he is the sole breadwinner for his family.
