26-Year-Old Arrested for Attempted Homicide: Victim Shot at on Briley Parkway

(WKRN) — In a shocking incident on Wednesday morning, a 26-year-old man was apprehended by the police and now faces charges of attempted criminal homicide. The charges stem from an incident where the suspect allegedly opened fire at another driver on Briley Parkway.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. near the McGavock Pike exit on Briley Parkway. According to court documents, the victim, who was driving, had entered Briley Parkway from Gallatin Pike in Madison, where two lanes merged into one.

In a harrowing account, the victim informed law enforcement officials that he had maneuvered his vehicle to prevent another driver from overtaking him. It was at this moment that he heard five distinct gunshots. Fearing for his safety, the victim quickly moved to the shoulder of the road to distance himself from the assailant. He then took the nearest exit onto McGavock Pike.

During the incident, the victim’s vehicle was struck twice by bullets. In a desperate plea for help, the victim immediately dialed 911. The dispatcher on the other end of the line was able to hear the sound of gunshots in the background, further highlighting the severity of the situation.

Thanks to the swift response of nearby law enforcement officers, the suspected vehicle was successfully tracked to South Nashville. Upon investigation, it was revealed that a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Douglas Alberto Angel Castillo, admitted to firing a total of eight shots at the victim.

As a consequence of his actions, Castillo has been taken into custody and is now being held at the Metro jail. He faces charges of attempted criminal homicide, reckless endangerment, and felony weapon possession. In light of the severity of the charges, his bond has been set at $350,000.
