Tragedy Strikes as 10-Year-Old Son of Senior Police Officer Fatally Struck by Speeding SUV in Lucknow

Lucknow: A devastating incident unfolded in Lucknow’s Gomti area, as a 10-year-old boy, Namish, tragically lost his life when a speeding SUV fatally struck him while he was practicing his skating skills near a local park. The heart-wrenching accident occurred in the upscale Gomti Nagar Extension area of the city at approximately 5:30 am on Tuesday. Shockingly, the reckless driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the innocent child in critical condition.

Namish, the beloved son of Additional Superintendent of Police Shweta Shrivastava, was engrossed in his morning skating routine when the untoward incident transpired. Eyewitnesses recounted the horrifying moment when a white SUV suddenly crashed into Namish, leaving him motionless on the ground. Despite the desperate attempts of onlookers to apprehend the fleeing driver, the vehicle vanished into the darkness, leaving behind a trail of grief and despair.

Following the heart-rending news, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashish Srivastava swiftly took action, forming five dedicated teams with the sole purpose of tracking down the elusive SUV and identifying the callous driver responsible for this senseless tragedy. In their relentless pursuit of justice, the investigative teams meticulously analyzed the CCTV footage from the vicinity of Janeshwar Mishra Park, the location where the dreadful incident unfolded.

As a result of their painstaking efforts, the authorities have successfully located the ill-fated SUV. Additionally, two individuals, identified as Sarthak Singh and Devshri Verma, have been apprehended in connection with the incident. Their alleged involvement in the heartless hit-and-run incident is currently under investigation, and they will be held accountable for their actions.

In the wake of this devastating loss, Shweta Shrivastava, who was previously stationed at the Gomti Nagar police station, has been transferred to a special investigation team in the role of an additional superintendent of police. This transfer aims to provide her the necessary support and space to cope with the unimaginable grief that has befallen her family.
