Police – Accident – Death – Obituary News : CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – A tragic incident has left two families in Cahokia Heights grieving after a domestic murder-suicide took place. The incident was reported to the Cahokia Heights Police Department on Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. when a 911 call came in about a car that had veered off the road and crashed into a tree line near Robert Price Road and Park Drive.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a vehicle that had collided with a tree. Inside the car were a man and a woman, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The injured individuals were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but sadly, they succumbed to their injuries and passed away.

Detective DeMarius Thomas, who is leading the investigation, revealed that this was not the first time the authorities had been alerted about the couple involved in the tragedy. The victims were identified as an estranged husband and wife who had previously been reported for domestic disturbances.

“It appears that they had been facing issues in their relationship prior to this incident. We have received reports of domestic disturbance in the past,” Detective Thomas stated. “We have also spoken to a family member who mentioned that their marriage was on the verge of ending, and the wife had already left.”
