Teenagers Arrested for Kidnapping and Planning to Sell Three-Year-Old for Rs 2 Lakh

Accident – Death – Obituary News : MUMBAI: In a shocking incident, three teenagers, including a girl, have been arrested by the Wadala police for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old child and planning to sell him for a sum of Rs 2 lakh. The accused have been identified as Sanika Waghmare, Pawan Pokharkar alias Pavya, and Sarthak Bambole, all of whom are 18 years old. Sanika is a first-year degree science student.

The incident came to light when Suman Chaurasia, the mother of the child, approached the Wadala police on Monday, reporting that her son had gone missing while playing near their residence. Acting swiftly, the police formed two teams and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. During the course of the investigation, Chaurasia learned that her son was last seen with Sanika, who happened to be their neighbor. In a bid to obtain more information, Chaurasia called Sanika, who claimed to be attending college at the time.

The following day, two men named Shakeel Shaikh and Sainath Kamble arrived at the Wadala police station with the missing child. Kamble disclosed that Sanika, an acquaintance of his, had informed him that the child in question was the one who had gone missing and requested that he hand him over to the police. The police immediately summoned Sanika for questioning, during which she confessed to the crime. According to her statement, Pavya had approached her two days prior, instructing her to bring a child under the age of 10, promising a reward of Rs 2 lakh if they were successful in “selling” the child. On Monday, Sanika and Pavya took the child in a taxi to Kalyan, where they met Bambole. However, due to a dispute over payment, they decided to return to Wadala with the child. Subsequently, Sanika handed the child over to Kamble.

“The accused have been remanded in police custody until November 24,” stated Usha Babar, the acting charge of senior police inspector.
