Morgantown Police Identify Victim in Greenmont Homicide

Morgantown Police have disclosed the identity of the victim in a tragic homicide that occurred in the Greenmont area during the early hours of Monday morning.

The victim, identified as Richard Demoan Hall, aged 39, succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds. The police have classified the incident as an apparent targeted attack, emphasizing that it was not a random act of violence.

Lieutenant Chad Reyes of the Morgantown Police Department (MPD) stated on Tuesday, “It appears that the shooting was targeted. This wasn’t a random act.”

The MPD is currently conducting a thorough investigation and is actively seeking any potential video footage from the surrounding area between Sunday night and Monday morning.

In response to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the vicinity, police officers promptly arrived at the 500 block of Brockway Avenue, situated between Overdale and Kingwood streets, at approximately 3 a.m. on Monday.

Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered the lifeless body of Richard Demoan Hall lying in the street. Medical professionals pronounced him dead at the scene due to the severity of his gunshot wounds.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no information has been released regarding a possible suspect, the firearm used, or the number of times Hall was shot.

The MPD remains committed to meticulously investigating the incident to bring justice to the victim and their family.
